Born from the
Australian wilderness.

“Everything the skin needs has existed in the Australian landscape for sixty thousand years. We are here to translate it — honestly, without compromise, and with the restraint that knowledge demands.”
Why We Started
A simple observation about an extraordinary landscape.
Bush & Salt was founded on the recognition that the Australian continent holds one of the most extraordinary and underutilised repertoires of botanical and mineral ingredients on earth. Wattleseed. Lemon Myrtle. Kakadu Plum. Eucalyptus. Kunzea. Nerolina. These have served the skin for tens of thousands of years — long before the language of skincare existed.
We exist to translate that knowledge into a modern, considered ritual. To apply it with the care it deserves. Not to appropriate — but to understand, respect, and present it honestly, to a generation ready to look closer at what they put on their skin.
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands from which our botanicals are sourced. We pay our respects to their enduring knowledge of Country, and to Elders past and present.

Every formula begins outdoors.
Before any ingredient enters our workshop, it walks a longer road — from a specific place on the Australian continent, harvested by specific people, in season. Provenance is not a feature. It is the beginning of every decision we make.
Our Philosophy
Formulated from what
the land offers,
nothing more.

The Land Decides
Every formula begins with what the Australian landscape offers — Wattleseed, desert salt, Lemon Myrtle. These are not trends. They are ingredients with tens of thousands of years of ecological record. We do not substitute convenience for provenance.
Nothing Surplus
Our formulation method is subtractive. We remove the unnecessary until only the essential remains. If an ingredient cannot justify its presence by function, it has no place in the jar.
Made with Restraint
No synthetic fragrance. No fillers. No ingredients added to make the label look longer. Restraint is not a constraint — it is the most deliberate choice we make, and the one we are most proud of.

The Craft
Small-batch.
By hand.
No shortcuts.
Formulating in small batches is not a marketing statement — it is the only way we know how to make products we would stand behind completely. No factory, no automated line, no cost-cutting. The person who writes the formula is the person who pours it into the jar.
We keep our production deliberately limited. This means we can smell every batch, adjust for seasonal variation in botanical quality, and guarantee that what leaves our workshop is exactly what was intended. Not approximately. Exactly.
Our workshop is in Canberra, ACT, where the pace is unhurried and the standard is whatever we would accept for ourselves. Nothing ships until we are satisfied — and our threshold for satisfied is high.
